Project Status: Design Development
City/Town: Coquitlam
Project Scope: This project includes the seismic replacement of Montgomery Middle to provide grade 6-8 students in Coquitlam a safer, new school to benefit the community for years to come. The replacement school will have a capacity of 600 students with a building area of 5,500m2. To align with CleanBC energy efficiency targets, this project will include at least a 78.7% greenhouse gas emissions reduction compared to a LEED gold baseline building. The school will include a Neighbourhood Learning Centre to offer purpose-built space for Indigenous Education. This space will include office space for the Indigenous Youth Worker, a meeting room for groups of staff or students, a larger space that can be divided into two learning spaces to run Indigenous programming and provide a connection to the outdoors and plaza so they may connect interior and exterior learning to a cultural space.
