November 15, 2019 - 1:04 pm
The barge was successfully re-floated this morning and towed to safe harbour in Campbell River for further repairs. No pollution was observed during salvage operations and the situation is stable. Canadian Coast Guard will continue to monitor for pollution while repairs are made.
No further updates are expected.
November 14, 2019 - 1:18 pm
On November 9, 2019, a container barge, the Nana Provider, ran aground north of the community of Cape Mudge on Quadra Island. All on-board cargo is contained in rail cars and secured on the top deck. No pollution has been observed.
The owner, Lynden Incorporated, hired divers to assess the barge and a salvage company to create a salvage plan. The salvage plan will be reviewed by Transport Canada before operations begin. A Canadian Coast Guard vessel remains on scene to provide security and ensure public safety.
