January 22, 2022 – 18:30

Cleanup continues at the spill site with the remaining contaminated snow being removed tomorrow. There is no further indication of the spill product migration off-site.

January 21, 2022 – 19:00

Two Environmental Emergency Response Officers (EERO) from the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) were on-site today overseeing the removal of contaminated snow from the impacted private properties. SLR Environmental Consultants were also on-site to conduct a review of the property and there appears to be no further indication of product migration off-site.

Multiple transport trailers began removing the contaminated snow off-site with the remainder of it being collected tomorrow. Contaminated soil removal is planned for Monday, January 24th.

January 18, 2022 – 13:00

Cleanup continues at the spill site with vac-trucks collecting and transporting contaminated material to disposal facilities. Rain conditions have caused some spilled product to migrate onto two properties nearby. The property owners have been notified and sampling has been conducted of their drinking water. Berms are in place to prevent any remaining material from migrating off-site.

Contaminated snow and soil has been stock pilled and will soon be transported to a disposal facility

January 17, 2022 – 16:15 

Cleanup continues on-site with no further migration of spilled product found. A temporary storage has been built to hold snow which came into contact with the spilled product until it is taken away for disposal. Preliminary samples from the incident site have been submitted for analysis.

January 13, 2022 – 18:30

The truck and trailer have been removed from the site and taken to a facility for inspection in 100 Mile House. Highway 24 at the incident site was open to a single lane for traffic. Trenches and barriers have been installed to capture the spilled product on the ground.

While it's unlikely the spilled product reached any water source, testing will be conducted as a precaution. An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) from the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) will remain at the incident site.

January 12, 2022 – 16:30 

An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) from the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) is at the incident site. The spilled poduct appears to be confined to the immediate area and is stable. The B.C Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) continues to keep Highway 24 closed and has implemented a detour for traffic to get around the site.

Downed powerlines have delayed recovery of the spilled product and removal of the truck. BC Hydro and Telus are currently on-site to remove damaged wires and install a temporary system to restore power and connectivity in the area

Some of the spilled product has migrated to a property close to the incident site, but no waterways appear to be impacted. The EERO has been in contact with Interior Health to keep them informed of the situation and will remain on-site.

January 11, 2022 – 23:30

A motor vehicle incident occurred this evening on Highway 24 between the communities of 100 Mile House and Little Fort involving a semi flatdeck truck operated by Edge Transportation Ltd. The truck was carrying epoxy resin and a small amount was spilled onto the highway as a result of the incident. The driver was taken to hospital for minor injuries and Highway 24 has been closed.

The incident has also resulted in damage to power lines and BC Hydro will send a crew to begin repairs.

Interlake Volunteer Fire Department instructed residents of a nearby home to temporarily evacuate as a precaution. An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) from the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) has been dispatched to the site.
