Response contractors have completed offloading all of the contents from the tanker and salvage operations for the semi truck and tanker are ongoing. There are no major environmental impacts reported at this time.
An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) will continue to monitor the response actions for this incident. No additional updates are anticipated.
January 12, 2020 - 7:00 pm
A tanker truck carrying gasoline was involved in a motor vehicle incident west of McBride on highway 16 yesterday evening (January 11, 2020). An unknown amount of gasoline has spilled as a result of the incident.
Two Environmental Emergency Response Officers (EERO) with B.C. Ministry of Environment & Climate Change Strategy (ENV) have arrived to the site today (January 12, 2020). The EEROs are undertaking a site assessment to determine the impacts to the environment. The responsible person, Westcan Bulk Transport, has hired contractors to off-load the remaining contents from the truck.
