An unknown pink substance was detected in Guerin Creek near the Thompson River University campus in Kamloops. Ministry of Environment (ENV) Response Officers met with University staff and the Kamloops Fire Department at the incident location.

An ENV Response Officer collected samples that are being processed at a laboratory for further analysis and identification. There have been no observations of dead fish and the discharge is occurring upstream to Thompson River University. ENV is in contact with local businesses in the area to identify the source of the contaminant. 

The substance appears to be dissipating with no additional contaminants entering the creek at this time.
