A vessel caught fire in the Gorge Waterway near the Selkirk Trestle in Victoria, B.C. earlier this afternoon. The occupant of the vessel made it safely off the boat and the Victoria Fire Department extinguished the fire. It is unknown if there were any hazardous materials on board the vessel at this time. Canadian Coast Guard has placed boom around the vessel as a precaution.
An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) is in contact with the fire department and Canadian Coast Guard and will continue to monitor the situation.
