November 21, 2017 - 10:05 am

The Kaleden Fire Department responded to a hazardous material incident early this morning (November 21) five kilometers south of Penticton on BC Highway 97. RAM Environmental Response Ltd., a hazardous material response company, was dispatched to the scene to help dispose of the caustic substance. An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) was notified and monitored the incident as it unfolded this morning.  

Plans are underway to pack, transport and dispose of the waste in accordance with regulatory requirements. Any risk to human health or public safety has been eliminated.
