May 26, 2020 - 7:41 pm

At  4:30 pm on May 26, a tanker truck carrying crude oil overturned near Charlie Lake, approximately 10 km north of Fort St. John. The tanker truck and pup trailer fires have been contained to the incident site and adjacent ditches. Local Fire Crews, RCMP, Conservation Officer Services and BC Ambulance are all on scene. 

An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) with the BC Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy (ENV) remains on scene. 

Highway 97 (Alaska Highway) is currently closed. Please check DriveBC for the latest information on highway closures.
