Approximately 17,000 L of the remaining 10% Spent Sulfite Liquor (SSL) was successfully removed from the tanker truck this afternoon. Approximately 1,000 L of the SSL remains in the damaged unit and will be removed when the semi-tractor and trailer are righted.
The response contractor estimates between 75 and 100 L of SSL leaked out into the highway corridor. Response contractors are working on a plan to remove impacted soil and debris.
Intermittent highway closures will continue while the semi-tractor and trailer are being removed.
No additional updates are anticipated.

A response contractor arrived on site earlier this morning and conducted an initial assessment of the incident. The contractor confirmed that the tanker was leaking and stopped the leak.
Approximately 150 L of 10% Spent Sulfite Liquor (UN 1760) leaked out to ground. No waterways have been impacted. Air monitoring is currently occurring at the incident site.
An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) will continue to oversee the response actions for this incident.

A B-train tanker truck rolled over on Highway 30, near Port Alice. The highway is currently down to one lane alternating traffic.
A response contractor is currently en-route to assess the incident and confirm if there is product leaking from the tanker. An Environmental Emergency Response Officer (EERO) will continue to monitor this incident.
