Project Description and Location: This project presents a sensitive ecosystems inventory for the Atlin-Taku planning area in northwestern B.C. The study area covers more than three million hectares and includes portions of the Atlin, Gladys, Tagish, Taku and Whiting watersheds.
Project partners: The Integrated Land Management Bureau (ILMB) at the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands and the Taku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) embarked on this joint land use planning initiative.
Project objectives: The project was undertaken to provide information on sensitive ecosystems and includes:
Standards and scale used: The inventory followed the Standard for Mapping Ecosystems at Risk in British Columbia (PDF) at 1:250,000 scale.
A total of 76 plots comprised of 49 full plots, 21 ground inspections and 6 visual checks were completed. A map at a scale of 1:250,000 was produced.
