Project Description and Location: This project provides updates to Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM) with a Sensitive Ecosystems Inventory (SEI) theme. The study area covers the Joe Rich area, located east of the city of Kelowna, along Mission, Joe Rich and Belgo Creeks. The area is 4825 hectares and includes private and publicly-owned lands
Project objectives: This project was intended to address an urgent need for inventory information on rare and fragile ecosystems to support sound land management decisions.
Project partners: The Regional District of the Central Okanagan and the Real Estate Foundation provided funding for this project. The Ministry of Environment provided aerial photographs.
Standards and scale used: The project followed the Standard for Mapping Terrestrial Ecosystems in B.C., 1998 at survey intensity level four. Field sampling was completed in 2006. Mapping was completed at 1:20 000 scale.
