Project Description and Location: This project is an inventory and assessment of rare and endangered plant communities in the southeastern Skeena Region (Bulkley, Kispiox, Morice, and Lakes Forest Districts). The study area falls within the Bulkley Basin (BUB) ecosection and the Sub-Boreal Spruce dry cool (SBSdk) biogeoclimatic subzone.
Project partners: This was a two year project that was funded by the Habitat Conservation Trust Fund of B.C. (HCTF) and administered by the Skeena Region, Wildlife Branch, B.C. Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks (MELP).
Project objectives: The project focuses on red-listed grassland, scrub-steppe and floodplain communities with the intent of mapping all red-listed occurrences in the Bulkley SBSdk.
Standards and scale used: The project predates the Standard for Mapping Ecosystems at Risk in British Columbia 2006. One hundred and thirty three rare plant community sites were visited between May 1, 1996 and October 28, 1997.
