Amandeep Singh, Richmond-Queensborough
Aman was elected MLA for Richmond-Queensborough in 2020. He served as a member of the Cabinet Committee on Social Initiatives, as the Chair of the Government Caucus Committee on Social Initiatives, and the Cabinet Working Group on Mental Health, Addictions, and Homelessness.
As a prominent civil and human rights lawyer, Aman has appeared at the BC Provincial and Supreme Courts and the BC Court of Appeal. He is a socially conscious small business owner and has held roles as a director of the Prof Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation, the Association of Legal Aid Lawyers, the Friends of the Sikh Cadets Society, the People’s Legal Education Society and as a Governor of Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
One of Aman’s missions is to bring more attention to the disease of addiction and the possibility of recovery. Aman is a recovered alcoholic who has been sober for over a decade and plays an active role in the recovery community. He has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by people and families who are dealing with addiction and mental illness. Aman believes that communities that foster care and respect for all people are key to recovery.
Aman was born in India, raised in Hong Kong, and moved with his family to Richmond. Aman takes pride and joy in being a father to his daughter, Leni and a human companion to his two rescue dogs, Charlie and Dave.
