Jennifer Rice was first elected MLA for North Coast in 2013 and previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness, Official Opposition spokesperson for Northern Economic Development, Rural and Northern Health, and was deputy spokesperson for Children and Family Development.
She is a former city councillor for the municipality of Prince Rupert.
Representing a vast portion of the Great Bear Rainforest on the north and central coasts and Haida Gwaii with many remote and indigenous communities, she continues to stand up to protect the B.C coast and advocate for indigenous rights.
Her first-hand experiences with the Heiltsuk First Nation during the Nathan E. Stewart oil spill and two earthquake and tsunami evacuations were rousing factors for her interest in emergency management.
Considering the significant seismic risk faced in B.C. and the increasing impacts of a changing climate, she believes in helping communities adapt by building resiliency.
Jennifer is a proud mother and resides in Prince Rupert with her child Lu̓á and wife Andrea.
