Tian develops and implements geospatial database systems to maintain, update, and manage the Survey’s geologic data collected for bedrock geology mapping.

Before joining the Survey, Tian was a Geomatics Specialist with the GeoBC, BC Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations and Remote Sensing Analyst with the Pacific Forest Centre, Natural Resources Canada. In the past 20 years, Tian has developed his expertise that covers the complete cycle of geospatial data activities, including space-borne and airborne data acquisition, geo-computing, spatial analysis, database-centric data management, geospatial information extraction, presentation, and publication through web-services.
Currently, he is responsible for developing, implementing, data compiling, and operating the lithogeochemical database and the corporate database at the BCGS.
