Sep 21, 2007 - Update - Class D Gaming Not Permitted in Liquor Licensed Areas

The Class D licensed documents, including the guidelines, conditions and standard procedures, have been updated to clarify restrictions on Class D gaming events, including ticket raffles and bingos, in areas adjacent to liquor licensed establishments.

This clarification ensures the administration of the new Class D licence is consistent with the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.

Class D gaming events cannot be conducted in establishments licensed to serve or sell liquor. Class D gaming events cannot be held in a bar, licensed restaurant, special occasion licensed area, licensed premises within an arena or any other place that is licensed to serve or sell liquor on a permanent or temporary basis.

Class D gaming events may be carried out in areas adjacent to the liquor licensed establishment, such as separate meeting rooms, an adjoining courtyard or the grounds of the establishment.

To ensure consistency with the Liquor Control and Licensing Act, applicants planning to conduct their event adjacent to a liquor licensed establishment are advised to contact the Liquor Control and Licensing Branch for further information.
