Sep 24, 2007 - BC150 Years Celebration Grants - Important message for Community Organizations

Last updated on September 23, 2019

Next year B.C. will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858, and to commemorate this milestone, the Province is hosting a year-long celebration called BC150 Years, to honour B.C. history and heritage, and celebrate its future.

As a part of this event, the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch is now accepting online applications from community organizations for 'BC150 Years' celebration grants. Celebration projects and events must be consistent with one of the five pillars supporting BC150 Years:

  • Aboriginals
  • Arts & Culture
  • Communities
  • Heritage
  • Multiculturalism

Organizations may apply for BC150 Years grants of up to $10,000 for any combination of celebration projects and events that contribute to honouring B.C.'s past and celebrating our future.

These grants will be made available to local community organizations through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, as one of a number of cross-ministry initiatives supporting the Province's BC150 Years initiative coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts.

BC150 Years grants are administered by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch, which regulates gaming in B.C. The Branch will receive grant applications and determine eligible organizations and grant amounts, and make grant payments. Applicants will be required to report back on their expenditures.
