Positions allocated to this series are those in which one or more of the following duties is of primary importance:
- Functioning as a member of a team in a public health unit, planning and delivering a program of identification, assessment, treatment and prevention to a specified population group
- Functioning as a speech/language pathologist or audiologist within an institution providing direct in-patient and out-patient care
- Functioning as a specialist in the patient assessment, treatment, planning or prevention aspects of the program
- Supervising the above functions
Excluded from the series are positions in which it's primarily important to:
- Provide physical therapy which is not related to speech or hearing
- Provide psychological, occupational or radiological therapy, nursing care or social assistance services
- Fitting, adjust, repair and maintain prosthetic devices not involved in the remediation of speech, language and hearing disorders
