Pill press reconsiderations and complaints

The Registrar appointed under the Pill Press and Related Equipment Control Act (PPRECA) may reconsider a decision regarding applications/confirmations or may investigate complaints from members of the public and other stakeholder organizations relevant to PPRECA matters.

Reconsideration

In accordance with the principles of administrative fairness and section 11 of PPRECA, if the Registrar refuses to grant, or suspends or cancels, a waiver or registration, a person may request the Registrar to reconsider the decision.

The reconsideration must be made in writing and sent to the Registrar via email to PillPressLicensing@gov.bc.ca , or mailed to Security Programs Division, PO Box 9217 Stn Prov Govt Victoria, BC V8W 9J1.

Complaints

The Registrar may investigate complaints from members of the public and other stakeholder organizations. After investigating, if the Registrar decides that a business has violated PPRECA, the Regulation, or a limit/condition on a certificate, the Registrar can impose a penalty or take other actions available in PPRECA. The Registrar will inform the complainant of the results of the investigation.

Submitting a Complaint to the Registrar

A person may make a complaint to the Registrar regarding any offence-related matter that relates to the Pill Press and Related Equipment Control Act and Regulation. This includes complaints against businesses or individuals that may own, use, possess, or sell Controlled Equipment.

To make a complaint, complete the Pill Press Complaint Form and email it to PillPressComplaints@gov.bc.ca or mail it to the Security Programs Division, PO Box 9217 Stn Prov Govt Victoria, BC V8W 9J1. If you mail the form, please write “Attention: Compliance and Enforcement” on the envelope.

Submitting a Complaint to the Ombudsperson

If you have concerns about the fairness of administrative processes related to the PPRECA program, you may file a complaint with the Office of the Ombudsperson.
