About the Provincial Hydrology Program

The core functions of this Program are to:

  • Publish standards for the collection and grading of hydrometric data
  • Facilitate and coordinate the collection of high quality water level and discharge data throughout the province
  • Promote and facilitate public access to hydrometric data

The collected data is shared to support the management, protection and sustainable use of water resources and associated ecosystems in B.C. and adjacent jurisdictions.

To coordinate and continually improve the collection and understanding of hydrometric data in the Province of British Columbia.

To provide resources for standards, training and equipment for hydrometric monitoring in the Province of British Columbia.

To produce high quality hydrometric data across the province by coordinating provincial and federal activities to support the effective management, protection and sustainable use of our water resources and associated ecosystems.
