Aerial pesticide applicator certificate

The Canadian Aerial Applicator Association endorses study materials and exams for aerial pesticide applicator certificates. The study materials are offered by institutions in other provinces:

• Alberta (Lakeland College)
• Saskatchewan (Institute of Applied Science and Technology)
• Manitoba (Assiniboine Community College)
• Ontario (University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus)

Required reading for the B.C. exams:

• Forest Pest Management Sector Review (PDF, 468KB)
• Mosquito Management Sector Review (PDF, 326KB)
• Integrated Pest Management Act and Regulation Summary (PDF, 526KB)

Option 1) Write the Aerial exam

• Get approved study materials from one of the institutions listed above
• Read the required reading for B.C. exams listed above
• Arrange to write the three-hour Aerial exam by contacting Service BC
• The cost to write the exam is $90
• Your exam mark will determine the term of your certificate:
  • 5 year (75% and above)
  • 1 year (60% - 74%)

Option 2) Write an approved out of province exam, then write the B.C. IPM Act and Regulation exam

• Pass the aerial pesticide application examination administered by an out-of-province college listed above
• Read the required reading for B.C. exams listed above
• Arrange to write the one-hour IPM Act and Regulation – Forestry/Mosquito exam by contacting Service BC
• The cost to write the exam is $90
• You must receive at least 75% on the IPM Act and Regulation exam to be issued a B.C. aerial pesticide applicator certificate. Your B.C. certificate will be valid for five years from the date the out-of-province certificate was issued

Option 1) Recertify by exam

• Aerial pesticide applicator certificates can recertify by writing the Aerial exam
• The cost to write the exam is $90

Option 2) Recertify by CECs

• If you held a five-year certificate, you have the option of recertifying by collecting continuing education credits (CECs)
• To be recertified using this process, you must get 20 CECs over five years
• The cost to recertify by CECs is $25
