2024 Ecological Communities Changes

Below is a list of ecological communities updates made to conservation status ranks of selected species, additions of new species in BC, and changes in species taxonomy based on the most recent scientific data and information available.

Additions/Removals

  • No new ecological communities were added to the CDC list.
  • One ecological community was deleted. Tsuga heterophylla / Symphoricarpos albus; western hemlock / common snowberry was deleted because the most recent work on classification indicated this concept was not supported by data.
 

Name Changes

  • No ecological communities had scientific name changes. 
  • No ecological communities had English name changes.
 

Conservation Status Ranks

  • The conservation status was reviewed for 15 ecological communities.
  • Five communities had rank changes due to new information (see spreadsheet for more information).
  • 15 Conservation Status Reports were updated.
 

Element Occurrence Mapping

  • 107 new Element Occurrences were published (and 56 updated) for 12 ecological communities.
