Ecosystem, vegetation, and landscape ecology research in the natural resource sector provides knowledge of the relationships of living organisms and their physical environments at multiple levels from forest stands to broad regions.
This understanding guides strategic and operational planning and resource management to sustain delivery of ecosystem services in the context of social, economic, and environmental change.
The OGD project is a study of the characteristics of old-growth forest ecosystems of coastal BC. The project utilizes a network of permanent, stand-mapped plots within provincial protected areas to study structure, composition, and function of these forests over time. The foundation of the study is a set of plots established in 1992 and 1993.
