Land-based

The discharge of wastes from land-based aquaculture operations is regulated through registration and compliance with the Land-based Finfish Waste Control Regulation.

This regulation allows waste discharges into the environment, while ensuring that aquaculture wastes are managed in an environmentally-sustainable manner.

Marine

The Province does not have jurisdiction over waste discharges from marine finfish aquaculture.  Regulatory authority for marine finfish aquaculture is managed by the federal government.
