Golden BonBon

Asti Holdings Ltd. (Asti) is a producer of artisanal, gourmet Italian nougat candies that are loved around the world.

Asti Holdings Ltd. is the living heritage of three generations of the Mazzucco family. Originating from Asti, a small city in northern Italy renowned for its nougat, the company relocated to Vancouver in 1991. Asti is Canada’s largest manufacturer of nougat, marketed under their Golden Bonbon brand. 

The candy is available in a classic bar shape or as individually wrapped bite sized pieces, not overly sweet and with a light texture. High quality BC ingredients such as cranberries and blueberries are used in the manufacture of our almond nougat candy and keeping sustainability in mind, we use an internal recycling program and source ingredients from small producers. 

Following a time-honoured tradition, the products are largely hand-made and made fresh to order. Toasted almonds, which form up to half of the product’s weight, are combined with honey, sugar, corn syrup and egg whites at high temperatures in traditional confectioner’s copper bowls. Following a unique cooking process, no artificial flavouring, colouring or preservatives are used, and the resulting nougat is natural, cholesterol and trans-fat free. It is also certified halal. Golden Bonbon nougat is sold in specialty shops, travel retail and the best grocery and drug stores across Canada and overseas. 

In addition to our classic almond nougat candy, a new line of products has recently been added – Jujube nougat, a fun and tasty treat, nut free and using jujubes in a variety of flavors, including sour and tropical. This product range has a pleasing soft fruity texture and popular with all ages.

A Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system is used to ensure product safety, and we are currently working towards Safe Quality Food (SQF) and British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification.
