Representative for Children and Youth (RCY) Reports

Last updated on July 9, 2024

The Ministry of Children and Family Development (the ministry) is committed to sharing with British Columbians actions taken on recommendations provided through its oversight bodies, including the Representative for Children and Youth (RCY).

The RCY is a non-partisan, independent officer of the Legislature, reporting directly to the Legislative Assembly and not a government ministry.

Since 2007, British Columbia’s Representative for Children and Youth has supported the province’s young people and their families in navigating the provincial child and youth welfare system. The RCY also provides oversight and makes recommendations for system improvement.

The ministry shares with the RCY a strong commitment to strengthen and improve the province’s systems of care to better support children, youth and families. Recommendations are reviewed, and actioned, with progress updates regularly provided to the RCY.

Here are the ministry’s highlights of actions taken to implement recommendations for the following reports:

The ministry will continue to post further updates on actions taken to implement RCY report recommendations here.
