B.C. Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards

The B.C. Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards recognize and celebrate individuals, organizations and youth whose work actively promotes multiculturalism and fights racism. An annual award ceremony is held on March 21 to coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

2024 Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards

The 2024 Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Awards nomination period is now closed. Nominations closed on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 11:59pm PST.

Nomination categories and eligibility requirements

Nominees may include:

  • Individuals who are residents of British Columbia, excluding public servants and elected municipal, provincial or federal officials 
  • Not-for-profit, business or public sector organizations in British Columbia, excluding a B.C. ministry or Crown corporation 

Intercultural Trust Award

Two (2) awards are given.

The Intercultural Trust Award is provided to an outstanding individual or organization for their work in building intercultural trust and understanding and/or reducing racism and hate between communities.

Breaking Barriers Award

Two (2) awards are given.

The Breaking Barriers Award is provided to an outstanding individual or organization for their work in tackling systemic or institutional racism and reducing barriers for marginalized communities.

Emerging Leader Award

One (1) award is given.

The Emerging Leader Award is provided to an outstanding youth or young adult, aged 15 to 30, for their work in building intercultural trust, tackling racism or reducing barriers for marginalized communities. The award is provided with a $5,000 grant to be given to a non-profit organization of the recipient’s choice.
