The Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) is responsible for the legislation of the Unclaimed Property Program as authorized by the Unclaimed Property Act.

The BC Unclaimed Property Society was formed to help reunite owners with their lost property.
The Society undertakes location efforts to find the owners of unclaimed property they hold. The purpose of the letter is to confirm whether you are the same person whose name appears in their database. The letter will ask you to provide evidence that you are the owner of the property they hold. If you are in doubt about the authenticity of a letter you can inquire with the OCG, Financial Management Branch, at OCG.FMB@gov.bc.ca.
