Physician Return of Service (ROS) programs support patient access to physician health services in B.C. The Province funds a set number of training positions and assessments for physicians. In exchange, participating physicians complete a ROS practicing in a B.C. community. Participants sign a contract with the Province that details the ROS commitment.
The International Medical Graduate - BC program provides opportunities for participants to train and practice as physicians in B.C. Participants complete residency at UBC.
After residency, family medicine participants complete a two-year ROS. After residency, specialty medicine participants complete a three-year ROS. For more information on the ROS and how to apply: International Medical Graduate - BC Program
The Practice Ready Assessment - BC Program assesses family physicians trained in other countries. After successfully completing the assessment, participants may receive a provisional license and complete a three-year ROS.

The Re-entry Program provides opportunities for licensed, practising physicians to retrain. Participants re-train through residency at UBC. After completing residency, re-entry participants complete a three-year ROS. For more information on the ROS and how to apply: Re-entry Return of Service.
The Competitive Stream (Medical Residency Stream Pilot) provides an opportunity for International Medical Graduates and Canadian Medical Graduates to train and practice as specialist physicians in B.C. Participants complete residency at UBC. After residency, participants complete a three-year ROS in B.C.
