The Coverage Notice helps predict if you will get a payment from AgriStability. It can be used to help with business planning or to help secure a business loan. Apply for a Coverage Notice after you experience a loss in profit. After you apply, you will receive a Coverage Notice by mail.
The Coverage Notice will show the calculation of your Reference Margin and provides:
An AgriStability payment is triggered when your profits for the year drop 30% below your Reference Margin. Learn more about Payments.
For the 2024 Program Year, the BC AgriStability Enhancement Program pays 90 cents for every dollar of income decline below the trigger shown on your Coverage Notice.
Coverage Notice Example
Farmer A's 2024 Reference Margin is $100,000
Farmer A's coverage trigger is $70,000 (70% of the Reference Margin)
Farmer A's current year profit is $50,000
This is lower than the $70,000 trigger (30% loss), so Farmer A will receive a payment.
Farmer A will receive a payment of $16,000 from AgriStability.
The math: Payment = (Trigger - Profit) x 80%
$16,000 = ($70,000 - $50,000) x 0.80
Farmer A's fee to enrol in AgriStability is only $370. Learn more about fees here.
