B.C. – Natural Resources Canada ISO 50001 Implementation Incentive

From 2015 to 2020 the B.C. Ministry of Energy and Mines and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) joined together to offer up to $80,000 of cost-shared assistance to B.C. industrial companies to implement energy management system projects that help facilities to comply with CAN/CSA-ISO 50001.

This program was a component of the Ministry’s Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund, designed to support the B.C. government’s energy, economic, environmental and greenhouse gas reduction priorities and advance B.C.’s clean energy sector.

Good for Business and the Environment

Implementing an energy management system, such as the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard, allows organizations to establish the systems and processes they need to take a systematic approach to achieve continual improvement of energy performance. Companies that have implemented energy management system projects have reduced energy costs and increased business competitiveness while minimizing greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental impacts.

What Incentives Are Available?

The following types of projects are eligible for Natural Resources Canada’s Industrial Energy Management program:

• ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Standard projects
• Energy Management Information Systems (EMIS) projects
• Process Integration (PI) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies
