From 2008 to 2014, the mandate of the ICE Fund was to support advancement of pre-commercial clean energy technologies in the electricity, alternative energy, transportation, and oil and gas sectors by acting as a critical bridge to the financial barriers to commercialization.
During this time, the ICE Fund had four calls for applications, resulting in over $77 million approved for 62 projects throughout B.C. These demonstration projects showcased a variety of clean energy technologies including solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, ocean wave and bioenergy.
SDTC/ICE Joint Call
In March 2017, Canada and British Columbia entered into a three-year, $40 million partnership for the development of pre-commercial clean-energy projects and technologies. While the joint call has been fulfilled, SDTC and the ICE Fund continue to co-fund Projects through one streamlined application process.
