At BC Timber Sales, building successful relationships with Indigenous Peoples means planning for the future. Scholarship and youth programs foster the next generation of Indigenous leadership in the natural resource sector.
The Indigenous Forestry Scholarship Program (IFSP) provides an opportunity for forest industry partners, including BC Timber Sales, BC Wildfire Service and Ministry of Forests, to strengthen and increase partnerships with local Indigenous communities and to develop workforce initiatives that include training and employment opportunities needed to sustain a skilled workforce, especially in rural areas.
The Outland Youth Employment Program is a national network of land-based education, training and work opportunities for high school-aged Indigenous youth. OYEP is a six-week work experience providing training and education in a supportive space that replicates various work environments.
