Review of Adoption Agency Regulatory Framework and Intercountry Adoption Services
Last updated on April 6, 2023In September 2021, the Ministry retained KPMG through a request for proposals (RFP) process to undertake an assessment of the service delivery model for intercountry adoptions and B.C.’s adoption agency regulatory framework. This independent review notes that, while there are opportunities to strengthen our approach to Intercountry adoption in B.C., many aspects of the service delivery model and the intercountry adoptions process function effectively and that B.C.’s system is positioned to meet its regulatory obligations. There are no legal or regulatory requirements identified that cannot be met under the current system. An analysis of the final report will support future decision-making regarding intercountry adoptions.
