Under the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act, peace officers, Community Safety Unit officers, and the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) may seize cannabis possessed unlawfully under the Act.
The LCRB has jurisdiction over licensees.
If you are a licensee and want to apply for the return of your seized cannabis, you can find more information from Liquor Cannabis Regulations Branch.
You have 30 days from the time your cannabis was seized to apply to the Director of the Community Safety Unit (CSU) to have it returned or to be compensated if the cannabis has been destroyed.
You can apply using the Application for Return of Seized Cannabis.
Your claim must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Director of the CSU or their delegate that you were legally entitled to possess the cannabis at the time of the seizure.
For more information about applying for the return of seized cannabis, see the Application for Return of Seized Cannabis Policy.
