Highway 1 - Kamloops to Alberta - Travel Delays
Last updated on November 8, 2024The Trans-Canada Highway 1 is the primary east-west connection through British Columbia. The Four-Laning Program is underway and may create travel delays throughout the corridor. Find out why this is still your most efficient route from Kamloops to Alberta and what to expect during construction.

Notice of Closures
Jumping Creek
Closures and traffic holds in effect daily through end of November 2024
- Daily 2-hour closure (6:00 am to 8:00 am)
- Daily 30-minute stoppages (8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- No work over the Remembrance Day Long Weekend (from noon on Friday, November 8 to 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12)
- We recommend considering a refreshing stop in Golden or Revelstoke
Bruhn Bridge
- Expect random minor delays near Bruhn Bridge (up to 5 min)

Ford to Tappen
- Daily 20 min closure (at approx. 1 p.m.)
- Daily 30 min closure (at approx. 7 p.m.)
- Expect random minor delays (up to 5 min)

Expect travel delays as we continue to upgrade the Trans-Canada Highway to a modern four-lane standard.
Plan travel in advance and be mindful of construction activities. Please continue to check DriveBC.ca and this website for more detailed and up-to-date information.

There will be enhanced enforcement around cone zones for the duration of the construction. Plan for delays. Slow down. Keep your cool.
