Commercial Transport Permits Online
Follow these steps to obtain select commercial vehicle permits online:
- Review the Commercial Transport Procedures for your load
- Stay up-to-date with current standards, procedures and polices
- Use the Drive BC Height Clearance Tool to find out known restrictions on the route you plan to follow

- Check a Carrier‘s Performance
- Check T-forms to see if a pre-approved permit is available for your load
- Determine if the type of permit you need is available in the online system. All other permits must be requested through the Provincial Permit Centre.
- Login to Commercial Vehicle Permits Online using your BCeID, or register to get started
- Complete your permit application ensuring you meet all permit conditions (attach relevant information, approvals and forms)
- Pay online with your Inspection Station account (certain permit types only) or credit card
- Retrieve and view copies of your organization's permits using the Permit Search function
- Contact the Provincial Permit Centre if you have questions.

Permits available in Commercial Vehicle Permits Online
- Single Trip, Overweight permit
- Single Trip, Overweight/Oversize permit
- Single Trip, Oversize permit (receive immediately) depending on the commodity and dimensions
- Term Oversize permit (receive immediately) for the following specific commodities only:
- general vehicle and loads; general mobile homes; boomsticks and poles; haybales (round); long logs; auto carrier, campers and boats; inter-city bus with pony trailer
- Single Trip, Non-Resident permit (receive immediately) for vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight between 5,000 kg and 63,500 kg. The following vehicle types:
- commercial vehicles; commercial passenger vehicle (bus); industrial vehicle (x-plated); farm tractor; farm vehicle.

- Motive Fuel User permit (receive immediately)
This is a temporary permit which must be purchased by the owner/ operator of a motive fuel-powered IFTA commercial vehicle that is not currently registered under IFTA (i.e., does not have a current IFTA license and decals), each time the vehicle enters into B.C.
An IFTA commercial vehicle is a motor vehicle that is used interprovincially or internationally for the commercial carriage of passengers or goods and that:
- Has two axles and a gross vehicle weight or registered gross vehicle weight exceeding 11,800 kg; or
- Has three or more axles regardless of weight; or
- When combined with the trailer with which it’s used, has a gross vehicle weight exceeding 11,800 kg; but
- Does not include a recreation vehicle.
The cost of permits is based on the estimated distance to be travelled in B.C.
