Vapour products are regulated in the same way as tobacco products. The legal age to buy vapour products in BC is 19.
Vaping is the inhaling of an aerosol or vapour created by an electronic cigarette, vape pen, or personal vaporizer (known as “mods”). They are different from cigarettes in that they don’t burn (or combust) the inhaled substances.
In 2019, there was an outbreak of e-cigarette or vaping associated lung injury (EVALI, referred to as VALI in Canada), which caused thousands of hospitalizations and dozens of deaths in the United States (US). Canada experienced a small number of cases of VALI and no deaths have been reported to date.
