Demotion to a position with a lower maximum salary could happen as the result of your job being reclassified downward or being assigned to a lower position due to workforce restructuring.
If you are a bargaining unit employee, and if the demotion is not voluntary on your part or is not the result of discipline, your salary will not be reduced. However, negotiated salary increases will be suspended until your salary in your new classification equals or exceeds your current pay.
Temporary market adjustments are not salary protected. Depending on your circumstance you may no longer be eligible to continue receiving an adjustment.
