South Island Residency Program in Clinical & Counseling Psychology
Last updated on September 17, 2024The South Island Pre-Doctoral Residency in Clinical & Counseling Psychology is one of only a small number of community based residency programs available in Canada.
This residency program is well suited for PhD candidates in psychology who would like to gain in-depth experience in the field of Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH).
This residency is located in Greater Victoria and hosted by three local CYMH teams
- Saanich Child and Youth Mental Health Services
- Victoria Child and Youth Mental Health Services
- Westshore Child and Youth Mental Health Services
These CYMH teams are three of the seven teams serving the residents of Victoria on southern Vancouver Island and are funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

The South Island Pre-Doctoral Residency Program in Clinical & Counseling Psychology has been accredited by the Canadian Psychological Association since the 2018/19 training year and was reaccredited for a seven year term in 2023.
