Current Board Members

Kathy Denton, Chair
Dr. Kathy Denton is the President of Douglas College and has worked at the College since 1993, first as a faculty member, then in a sequence of administrative positions. Kathy has been a member of the DQAB since November 2016 and Chair since August, 2023.

Hugh Brock
Dr. Hugh Brock joined UBC in 1982 as a professor, and spent his career there, retiring in 2019. Hugh has been a member of the DQAB since February 2018.

Brad O’Hara
Dr. Brad O’Hara joined Adler University in 2016 as Executive Dean of the Vancouver campus. Brad has been a member of the DQAB since November 2019.

Kathy Lewis
Dr. Kathy Lewis is a Professor and Acting Vice-President , Research and Innovation at the University of Northern British Columbia. Kathy has been a member of the DQAB since July 2021.

John Chenoweth
Dr. John Chenoweth is Dean and Associate Vice-President at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology. John has been a member of the DQAB since July 2021.

Elizabeth Adjin-Tettey
Dr. Elizabeth Adjin-Tettey is Associate Vice-President Academic Programs and a Law Professor at the University of Victoria. Elizabeth has been a member of the DQAB since September, 2023.

Kate Ross
Dr. Kathleen (Kate) Ross is a former Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services and Registrar at the University of British Columbia and previously served as Co-Chair of EducationPlannerBC. Kate has been a member of the DQAB since September, 2023.

George Iwama
Dr. George Iwama is a former President and Vice-Chancellor of Quest University Canada and the University of Northern British Columbia. George has been a member of the DQAB since September, 2023.

Katherina Tarnai-Lokhorst
Dr. Tarnai-Lokhorst is President of the Lokhorst Group Ventures. Katherina taught engineering, project management and social responsibility courses at Camosun College for over 25 years, retiring in 2022. She served as President of Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia until 2020. Katherina has been a member of the DQAB since July 2021.

Sonya Grypma
Dr. Sonya Grypma is an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia and previously served as President of the Canadian Association for Schools of Nursing. Sonya has been a member of the DQAB since September, 2023.

Rob Fleming
Dr. Robert Fleming is the Executive Director & Co-chair of the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT). Rob has been a non-voting member of the DQAB since August 2010.
