Before you apply for a security worker licence, you may need training or experience. You also need training if you apply to use restraints or dogs in security work.
You may apply to work as a security guard under supervision or as a fully licensed security guard.
You don't need training to get this licence.

You must submit a letter from your employer as proof of this experience. The letter must say that you are qualified to work as a locksmith without supervision.
Experience working as a locksmith under supervision and completion of an approved locksmithing course
You must submit a letter of recommendation and certification from your employer.
You may apply to work as a private investigator under supervision or as a fully licensed private investigator.
To apply for this licence, you must meet one of these requirements. Equivalent training may be considered.

To apply for a full security alarm installer licence, you need a Trades Qualification (TQ) Certificate issued under the Skilled Trades BC Act (formerly the Industry Training Authority Act or the Industry Training and Apprenticeship Act). To apply for this licence, you must have 2 years of experience within the past 5 years, providing at least one of these services:

You must have Canine Security Validation through the Justice Institute of British Columbia. You must renew this every year.
