Support for young families

If you are a young parent on assistance, you may be able to get one-on-one help through the Family Youth Partnership to connect with:

  • Community resources
  • Services
  • Programs

These resources will give you the support you need to become self-sufficient.

Eligibility

You could be eligible for this help if you are:

  • Receiving income assistance
  • Between 19-25 years old
  • A parent
  • In Victoria, Vancouver, Surrey, Kelowna or Prince George

You might also be eligible if you are a youth transitioning out of government care in:

  • Prince George
  • Surrey
  • Victoria

Support planning

If you qualify, a worker from the Family Youth Partnership will meet with you and your family. Together you will work to develop a unique plan that will help you get the supports and services you need. These can include:

  • Preparatory programs
  • Education or employment programs
  • Services to help your children get ready for school

Your worker will continue to work with you to access these services and supports. They will also help you get into programs that can lead to your employment and independence.
