The Declaration Act requires the Province to develop and implement an action plan to meet the objectives of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UN Declaration), and to do so in consultation and co-operation with Indigenous Peoples.
United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) Act
The federal government's Act respecting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The Act aims to confirm the Declaration as an important international human rights document. It can be used to understand and apply Canadian law. The Act also provides a framework that helps put the Declaration into action at the federal level.
