The B.C. government is committed to reconciliation. Connecting First Nations communities with high-speed internet is an important step. Everyone should have access to the services and opportunities that high-speed internet enables.

Action 4.36 in the Declaration Act Action Plan requires every First Nations household to have high-speed internet access. Government is working to complete this action by 2027. Connectivity supports many other actions in the Plan, featuring Indigenous language revitalization, education and training, healthcare, and economic development.

This commitment aligns with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and B.C.’s corresponding legislation, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
