Get a BC Services Card
Last updated on February 7, 2023Enhanced levels of security make the card more secure and help protect your privacy. This means you have to do a few more steps to get your card.
There are three types of BC Services Card. Learn more about the types of BC Services Card and eligibility requirements for each type.

Get a combined BC Driver's Licence and Services Card
Before you go
- If you have a BC Services Card, or still have a CareCard, make sure the name on that card exactly matches the name on your driver’s licence. If not, call Health Insurance BC
What to bring
- Two acceptable pieces of ID
- Your BC Services Card - if you have it
- Your CareCard - if you have it
Where to go
- First, find a driver licensing office
- You may be able to book an appointment online or by phone
- If you don't make an appointment, check the walk-in hours
- Then, when you go, they will
- Confirm you're a B.C. resident
- Take your photo
Get a Photo BC Services Card
Before you go
- If you have a BC Services Card, or still have a CareCard, make sure the name on that card exactly matches the name on your driver’s licence. If not, call Health Insurance BC​

Get a Non-Photo BC Services Card
Children and youth under 19 may be automatically issued their first Non-Photo BC Services Card when an adult on the account contacts Health Insurance BC or obtains their own BC Services Card by attending an ICBC driver licensing office.
Children and youth cannot directly obtain a Non-Photo BC Services Card at an ICBC driver licencing office.

Fees
There is no fee to get a BC Services Card. However, if you’re combining your BC Services Card with your driver’s licence, fees that apply to the regular driver’s licence issuance process still apply.
Having trouble getting a card?
If you don't have enough ID or cannot visit an ICBC office in person to get a card, please contact us.
