Status of regional growth strategies

Last updated on July 24, 2024

Most of the regional districts within the high-growth regions of B.C. have adopted regional growth strategies and are undertaking implementation efforts with their member municipalities.

Three areas in B.C. have been identified as having more significant rates of growth and urbanization than the rest of B.C. and are known as "high-growth regions":

  • Lower Mainland
  • Okanagan Valley
  • Southern Vancouver Island

It's anticipated that the need to manage growth, guide urbanization and adjust for an aging population will continue for the foreseeable future in order to support sustainability and resiliency outcomes.
