Professional regulatory authorities are government agencies or public organizations that have authority delegated by law from government. They provide oversight and certification to specified regulated occupations in B.C.

Changes to regulators in B.C.

In June 2024, several health colleges in B.C. were merged into two new regulatory bodies:

  • College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC regulates chiropractors, naturopathic physicians, registered massage therapists, and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists
  • College of Health and Care Professionals of BC regulates audiologists, dietitians, hearing instrument practitioners, occupational therapists, opticians, optometrists, physical therapists, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists
