British Columbia has conducted an annual Major Primary Timber Processing Facilities Survey (Mill List Survey) since 1991. The survey gathers capacity, employment and production information on various mill types across the province.
The survey provides critical data to perform the government’s mandated responsibilities. Due to the declining timber supplies in B.C., it becomes more imperative to have the survey information so the B.C. government can make informed decisions to better manage the public forests and ensure sound investment decisions.
Based on the survey responses, Major Primary Timber Processing Facilities in British Columbia, also known as the Mill List report, is issued every one or two years. The Mill List report provides a comprehensive picture of the wood fibre supply and log use in the province.
The List of Mills Appendix is also available as an Excel spreadsheet.
