The B.C. government administers firewood cutting on Crown land and members of the public who wish to cut must have authorization from each Natural Resource District where they intend to cut.
Special Forest Products (SFP) are the forest products designated by regulation under section 1 of the Forest Act. It includes firewood and other products such as cants, shakes, woodchips, and hogged tree material. Section 94.1 of the Forest Act allow the manufacturing timber into a SFP and scaling instead of in log form and the transportation of the SFP.
